Wiscasset High School boys’ basketball team opened their Mt.Valley Conference season with a 69-41 win over Carrabec Friday night on the road. After a slow start, Wiscasset went on a 25-13 run in the second period to lead 38-23 at the half. The Redskins never relinquished the lead after the first period.

Panthers Handle Lions In Season Opener; Corral Mustangs
Medomak Valley boys’ basketball team opened their KVAC on the road at Belfast on Friday, and came home with a 57-43 win. The Panthers were in foul trouble all night, and had five players with two fouls each at the half. Compounding Medomak’s foul trouble, Alex MacKenzie drew a technical foul and sat out the fourth quarter.
County Deer Tag Totals Slightly Higher Than 2007’s Record Low
It was another dismal year for Lincoln County deer hunters. There were 533 deer tagged at county tagging stations, slightly higher than 2007’s low of 521.

The Y Offers A New Gymnastics Class
The YMCA has a new Boys Only class on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The new class is for boys ages 5 to 7 but all ages are welcome to join the class. The YMCA also offers boys only classes on Saturdays.
Lincoln Wrestlers Tie For Second
Lincoln Academy wrestlers tied for second at York on Saturday in the Sullivan Duals Tournament. The Eagles split four dual meets, beating Kennebunk 45-36 and Wells 42-38 and losing to York 51-33 and Morse 45-34.

Lincoln Academy wrestlers won three out of five matches at the Cony duals tournament on Saturday. The Eagles defeated York 48-36, Gardiner 50-25, Erskine 57-12, and lost to Morse 42-34, and Skowhegan 51-31.
Lady Panther Soccer Coach, Campbell Resigns
Medomak Valley girls’ soccer coach Owen Campbell resigned after the completion of the fall season. Her shoes will be hard to fill, as she accumulated a 23 win 5 loss record over her two year tenure as head coach of the Lady Panthers.
