Lincoln County 9-10 Little League softball all-stars won their opening game at the State tournament in Ellsworth on Aug.2, 13-10 over Scarborough. Bailey Plourde went the distance in the win (3B,3K,14H).

Medomak Valley fall sports practices begin on Mon., Aug. 17 for boy and girl athletes.

The 150-acre Stetser Preserve in Jefferson is owned by the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association (SVCA). Its official opening and dedication will be held on October 17.

The Damariscotta Lake Watershed Association acquired the 230-acre West Branch Preserve in Somerville in 2006. The parcel connects with West Branch, Jefferson to form the 470-acre West Branch Preserve.

The Westport Island Shore Run 10K Road Race will be held on Sun., Aug. 23 at 9 a.m. The race starts at the old Town Hall on the Main Road (Rt. 144) and is on USATF certified course through scenic pines and fire tree forests, over two bridges spanning inlets to Heal Cove and Montsweag Bay.

Fall tryouts for sports at Medomak Middle School are already underway.

Lincoln County 11-12 Baseball all-stars competed in the Bath tournament over the weekend, falling to Brunswick 6-5 and Topsham 9-6.

Portland 5 – Midcoast South 4Midcoast South jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the State championship game against Portland. Portland scrambled back to win 5-4 and force a second game for the State title.

Lincoln Academy summer basketball camp will be held from Mon.-Fri., July 6-24 for 2nd-8th grades from 9-11 a.m. The cost is $50 per week, or $125 for all three weeks.
