The KLW Umpires Association, along with Olympia Sports Center, is sponsoring a one pitch, double elimination co-ed softball tournament to benefit Art Tainter and his family, on Oct. 11 and 12. There will be an Oct. 13 rain date.

Lincoln Academy junior Nikki Leeman placed 10th at the Western Maine Class B cross country championships to qualify for the State Class B meet to be held at Belfast on Sat., Nov. 1 at 2:45 p.m.

Medomak Valley boys’ soccer team jumped out to a 1-0 lead over Camden Hills in the KVAC championship game in Augusta on Oct. 23, but could not hold on, falling 4-1.

The softball diamonds in Waldoboro were busy over the weekend as 12 teams faced each other in a one-pitch co-ed softball tournament Oct. 11-12.

Winslow held off Medomak Valley girls’ soccer team late in the second half to win the KVAC championship, 3-2, on Oct. 23 in Augusta.

Both the Medomak boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams are headed to the State Class B championships, to be held at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast on Saturday. The boys run at 2 p.m. and the girls at 2:45 p.m.

After many tournament delays, the two finalists for the Senior Club Championship, Clayton Giggey and Stan Wade, came together for the final match on Columbus Day.
