MIDCOAST MAINE TOUR DE FARMS 2017
Enjoy an early fall bike ride while supporting local farmers and producers. Ride 56, 42 or 17 miles through the Midcoast countryside, stopping at farms, orchards and creameries along the way to sample and purchase their products. We’ll courier your purchases back to the starting point. We’ll offer a 17-mile family ride for those 10 and over, and cycling and farm activities at The Morris Farm for younger kids while their parents ride. 3.5 mile and shorter routes, family friendly event.
$15 registration includes hike + lunch.
Meet at the Freedom Mill parking lot on Pleasant St. in Freedom, where the hike will also end. Following the hike, there will be a delicious lunch including local food, refreshments and music at Villageside Farm, a premier community supported agriculture family farm in Waldo County.
Delicious locally-sourced lunch is $15 for adults, $5 for children 3-12, and free for children under 3. Adult lunch includes a Goosepecker Trekker Ale from Marshall Wharf brewery!

Miles & St. Andrews Home Health & Hospice staff and volunteers invite all who have experienced the loss of a loved one to join them at their upcoming Remembrance Gathering ceremonies in Bristol and Boothbay Harbor. These special interfaith ceremonies will include words of encouragement by Hospice Chaplain Rev. Ken Dale and music by the Homeward Bound Hospice Choir.
The Boothbay Harbor Remembrance Gathering will be held in the Memory Garden at St. Andrew’s Village on September 30th at 10 am. The Bristol Remembrance Gathering will be held at the Pemaquid Lighthouse on Saturday, August 26th at 10 am.

Join Maine Farmland Trust on Saturday, September 30th, from 11am-3pm, at our Joseph A. Fiore Art Center at Rolling Acres Farm for a family-friendly Open Studio Day. Come meet and view the work of September’s artists Anne Alexander, a sculptor from Windham who creates nature-based work (MFA in Sculpture from Alfred University, NY, 1989) and Jude Valentine, a printmaker and pastel artist hailing from East Machias, (MFA in Visual Art with a concentration in multi-disciplinary media, Vermont College of Fine Art, Montpelier, VT.) Resident gardener and artist Nellie Sweet will be on site to share the beautiful kitchen garden she has created this year; Center co-directors David Dewey and Anna Witholt Abaldo will be available to offer tours of the residency center and gallery. There will be live music on the lawn by Marsh & Lane – a young guitar/cello duo associated with the Midcoast Music Academy – and free coffee, tea and ice cream. Located right on Damariscotta Lake the public is invited to bring a picnic and enjoy the Center’s grounds for the day.

Share the Road with Carol is an all ages commemorative bike ride planned for October 1, 2017, at 9:00 am in Windsor and Whitefield, Maine. The ride, which has 12-mile and 27-mile options, starts and ends at the Windsor Town Office.
This ride will honor the memory of Carol Eckert, M.D. Carol was tragically killed as a result of a bike accident that occurred in Windsor on October 10, 2016. Biking was Carol’s passion and we invite everyone who feels the same to join us in remembrance of a life well pedaled and to further the cause of bicycle safety in Maine.

There will be one rest stop on the 27 mile ride. Please join us after the ride at the Windsor Town Hall for fellowship, remembrances and light snacks.
