The Waldo Theatre is pleased to announce that local favorites Oshima Brothers will present their new film, “Dark Nights Golden Days,” at the theater at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 24.
In their first self-directed film, the Oshima Brothers tell the story of their lives as artists and siblings in a world torn apart by climate change that’s consoled by people and art. The film is a visual album that pairs with the sequence of their new record of the same name, “Dark Nights Golden Days.”

This will be an opportunity for instructors from Knox, Lincoln and Waldo counties to reconnect and to engage in planning upcoming in-person safety programs to serve the midcoast region. The Lincoln and Knox County Republicans will hold a special caucus for the towns of House District 45 which include Bremen, Louds Island, Waldoboro, Friendship, and Washington.
The caucus will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at the Coastal Christian School located at 574 North Nobleboro Rd. Waldoboro. All registered Republicans in the listed towns are invited to attend and participate.
The purpose of the caucus is to nominate a Republican candidate to run in a special election for the House District 45 seat vacated by Waldoboro Democrat Clinton Collamore, who resigned after being charged for defrauding the clean election system.

Those who want to see (and taste) some creative cooking are invited come to the Rutherford Library’s Edible Book Festival in South Bristol on Saturday, April 1.
There is still time to participate. Just call the library by Thursday, March 30 at 644-1882, or stop by during regular hours – Wednesday and Thursday 12-6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
It’s easy to enter – just create an edible depiction of a book. It can be sweet or savory, funny, punny, or simply representational. Those who don’t want to enter can still come to taste and judge their favorites.
Entries must be brought to the library between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday March 31, or by 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 1. Tasting and judging will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come join the fun.

Halcyon String Quartet’s second annual family performance, Wonderful World, is coming to The Waldo Theatre at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 7.
In collaboration with actor Ben Meader and singer Kaylee Kazadi, Halcyon will be combining music and story to celebrate two of Maine’s most beloved children’s book authors and illustrators, Ashley Bryan and Robert McCloskey.
The show will feature McCloskey’s, “Blueberries for Sal” alongside illustrations from Bryan’s “Wonderful World,” and “Let it Shine.” Musical selections performed by Halcyon will include “This Little Light of Mine,” “Wonderful World,” and many other favorite tunes from childhood and beyond.

Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust naturalist Sarah Gladu will lead a hike at Tracy Shore in South Bristol from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 8.
This is the second of Coastal Rivers’ Spring Saunters series of guided hikes this season. During these gentle walks, participants will keep an eye out for spring flowers, emerging buds, and migratory songbirds, and enjoy the company of fellow nature enthusiasts.
Owned by the town of South Bristol and co-managed by Coastal Rivers, Tracy Shore is located on the eastern shore of Jones Cove on the Damariscotta River. A well-marked system of trails winds past vernal pools, cascading streams, and cliffs adorned in rock tripe and ferns, ending up at a high overlook that offers stunning views of the cove and river.
This program is free of charge, thanks to member support. Registration is required at coastalrivers.org/events.
The next Spring Saunter will be a guided hike at Coastal Rivers Salt Bay Farm in Damariscotta on Friday, May 5.
Coastal Rivers is a nonprofit, member-supported, nationally accredited land trust caring for the lands and waters of the Damariscotta-Pemaquid region by conserving special places, protecting water quality, creating trails and public access, and deepening connections to nature through education programs.

This Saturday morning, April 8, the Waldoboro Fire Department is inviting area children to its fire station at 1600 Atlantic Highway in Waldoboro for an Easter egg hunt.
The Easter Bunny will arrive by fire truck at 10 a.m. and, along with Sparky the Fire Dog, will be available for pictures with children throughout the event.
Children are encouraged to bring their own Easter basket to collect their candy-filled eggs.
