Dr. Judith Eve Sandick of 113 River Road, Edgecomb, passed away on July 24 surrounded by her family following a long struggle with depression. Judy was born in Pittsfield, Mass. on Aug. 21, 1954.

Lobster fishing has never been an easy way to make a living. Any economic endeavor that relies on natural forces and harvesting natural resources carries risk and uncertainties. I first heard of these risks last year when I was campaigning, going door to door. Lobstermen shared stories with me about weather, the environment, and the costs of gear changes. William Cotton Damon II
Born Sept. 28, 1937 in Boston, Mass. to Alison Niven Damon and Edmund Ives Damon. “Cot,” as he was known, attended the Rectory and Gunnery schools in Connecticut, and went on to Dean College. He served in the Army and was stationed in the Philippines.
Lillian Labrie Recognized for Alewife Support
The alewife festival is over, but the beloved river herring continue to populate Damariscotta Lake. The adult alewives are making their return down the ladder and to the sea. The eggs they did lay are now millions of tiny alewives. They can be easily seen while wading into the lake. In a few months these fish will grow to 4-5 feet long and follow the remaining mature alewives down the river to the open ocean.
J. William Silverberg
J. William Silverberg, MD, passed away on July 21, 2019 at the age of 95. Dr. Silverberg of White Plains, N.Y. and New Harbor, received his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1950 and practiced psychiatry with great devotion and diligence over 60 years, largely in White Plains, N.Y.
