Maine Friends of Music to Perform

Back by popular demand, Maine Friends of Music, a professional chamber ensemble composed of renowned soprano Mary Sullivan, flutist Linda Brunner, bassoonist David DeBolt, and keyboardist Sean Fleming, will perform at the Knox Museum in Thomaston on Sunday, July 21 at 7 p.m. and the Union Church of South Bristol on Sunday, July 28 at 4 p.m.

Generations from New Jersey Church Return to Bristol for Service

Every year, a New Jersey church sends a large group of youth and adults to The Carpenter’s Boat Shop in Pemaquid to serve the local community – a “work camp” that has become a formative experience for generations and developed lasting connections between the two communities.

Hingham Singers Offer ‘Music of Peter, Paul and Mary’ Concert

People are invited to come hear The Hingham Singers, a Boston-area-based ensemble, perform a concert titled “The Music of Peter, Paul, and Mary” on Friday, July 19 at First Congregational Church, 28 High St., Wiscasset. There is no admission to the concert; donations are accepted with thanks.

At Bette’s request there will be a brief graveside service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 at the German Church cemetery in Waldoboro followed by a celebration of Bette’s life at the Hilton family camp, 1374 Back Cove Road in Waldoboro. All are welcome.

Community Cares Day is a Day for Helping Neighbors

Every first Saturday after Labor Day since 2002, 100 or so Midcoast Maine people have dedicated that day to participate in the Community Housing Improvement Project’s Community Cares Day.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens Welcomes Back Caterpillar Lab

In its ongoing mission to cultivate curiosity, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens will host educator and nature photographer Samuel Jaffe and The Caterpillar Lab July 25-29. Jaffe, who has been raising caterpillars since childhood, has spent years educating the public about the importance of, in his words, “the little monsters living unseen around us that seem effortlessly to reveal to people the value of the natural spaces around them.”
