Summer returns once again, and, along with longer days, an abundance of fresh produce, and warmer temperatures, its arrival brings about some changes at the Morris Farm Store in Wiscasset.

Emma J. Squillante, 94, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away peacefully July 8, 2019. She was the daughter of Carl and Jennie Manna, born in Boston, Mass. on Jan. 2, 1925.

A graveside service for Barbara Hagan, who passed away on Feb. 24, 2019, will be held at the Resthaven Cemetery in Windsor on Monday, July 22 at 1 p.m.

Bigelow Laboratory to Host July 19 Open House

Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences will host its annual open house at its East Boothbay campus at 60 Bigelow Drive on July 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event gives the public a rare opportunity to get hands-on with ocean science at the state-of-the-art laboratory and meet some of the world’s tiniest – and more important – sea life. 

Hannah Meneses Announced as Chair of CLC Y Annual Fund

Hannah Meneses believes “if you give a community a Y,” you create a place of unlimited opportunity, where all community members can go, regardless of circumstance. The Central Lincoln County YMCA is announcing the commencement of its annual campaign, with Meneses’ help.

Chris Simpson, 64, of Whitefield, passed away on the afternoon of July 9, 2019. Chris worked for the Maine Public Utilities Commission since 1985, with a four-year break to pursue a lifelong passion by teaching at Stepping Stones Montessori School.

Wiscasset Couple Serves Puerto Rican Fare at Montsweag Flea Market

Vintage typewriters, Civil War relics, and sterling silver lockets make the Montsweag Flea Market a roadside stop for thousands of visitors each summer. This season, the flea market has a new food stand, Maritza’s Place, where Daisey Cunningham and Alex Echevarria, of Wiscasset, serve homemade empanadas and sofrito seasoned rice.

Maine Humorist Tim Sample Returns July 18

On Thursday, July 18, in what has become a summer tradition, Tim Sample returns to Boothbay Harbor to perform at the Opera House. Sample is a Maine native whose unique New England style of humor has gained him a national following.
