Cynthia Lee Pepper, 61, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., formerly of Nobleboro, passed away Dec. 5, 2017 after a battle with a very rare form of cancer. Her passing was peaceful and she was surrounded by all of her children.

Flags to Half-Staff for 30 Days

Maine Gov. Paul R. LePage has directed the U.S. flag and the state of Maine flag be flown at half-staff immediately for 30 days to honor the life and memory of President George H.W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States.

When sailmaker Mike Bartles saw a “for rent” sign in front of a large barn at 73 Corey Lane in Boothbay, he immediately called the number on the sign. Tom Witt answered, and thus began the process that would lead to Bartles starting his first business: M & H Bartles, Sailmakers.
