Chloe Maxmin, D-Nobleboro, won her race for House District 88 against Michael Lemelin, R-Chelsea. Maxmin is the first Democrat to win this seat, with record midterm turnout and a final vote count of 2,266-2,053.
Danielle and Marshall Perfetto, of Friendship, are pleased to announce the arrival of a baby boy, Marshall Landon Rocco Perfetto.
Kasha and Donnie McKay, of Jefferson, are pleased to announce the arrival of a baby girl, Emma Catherine McKay.
John S. Peters, 90, of Edgecomb, passed away at his home on the evening of Nov. 6. Born on Oct. 2, 1928, he was the husband of the late Mary (Hayes) Peters.
Two years ago, Republicans won seven of the nine legislative seats that represent Lincoln County. Now, Democrats will hold five of the seats, with a sixth going to an independent.
The Lincoln County News will publish a day early the week of Thanksgiving (Tuesday, Nov. 20).
Whew! We made it to Election Day! I voted, and by the crowds of people, it looks like a huge turnout.
Last writing, I forgot to mention Halloween, my favorite holiday. I must have other things like the World Series on my mind. Anyway, this year I decorated mostly inside so that I would not have my creations destroyed by the weather. But by doing it this way, the only ones who got to see it were my neighbors across the street and me.
Christopher Lamb Brookes, 69, died at home in North Yarmouth on Oct. 10.
Roger Holman, 71, of South Bristol, passed away at his home on the evening of Nov. 5 after a brief illness.
Kim Freeman Meuse, of Newcastle, passed away Oct. 29 surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born on Feb. 18, 1955 during one of the worst snowstorms of the year.
Dorothy “Doffy” McCann Preston died peacefully in Damariscotta, Maine on October 29, 2018, surrounded by her family. Doffy was born on March 23, 1931 in Mamaroneck, New York, to Richard and Dorothy McCann.
On Saturday, Nov. 24, the inaugural Villages of Light celebration will light up the Twin Villages of Damariscotta and Newcastle just in time for the holidays.
