I made a sandwich for dinner the other night. I never do that. OK, not never, obviously, but rarely. Like twice a year. And it wasn’t because I was feeling lazy. I love spending time cooking dinner almost as much as I love eating it. Plus I get to sip a Manhattan while cooking :-).

Suzan N. Spalvins, 78, well-known local fabric artist and longtime resident of historic Boalsburg, Penn., passed away at Juniper Village at Brookline, State College, Penn. on June 26. She had been in failing health for nearly three years.

Free Guided Tours of St. Patrick’s on July 1
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church is the oldest continuously used Catholic church east of the Mississippi River, the first church in the United States to be named for St. Patrick, and houses both the altar of Bishop Cheverus and a bell cast by Paul Revere. But each corner and adornment of the elegant red brick sanctuary that is the old St. Patrick Church in Newcastle has a story. Now, community members are invited to hear them all.
