Zaidi Graduates Magna Cum Laude from Wheaton
Syed “Sammy” Osama Ali Zaidi, a Class of 2014 alumnus of Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, graduated magna cum laude from Wheaton College, in Norton, Mass. He double-majored in film and new media studies, and political science. He was inducted into the political science honor society in March. The commencement ceremony was on May 19.

Polling Hours and Places
The primary election for candidates for Maine governor, the Maine Legislature, and other offices, as well as a statewide referendum on ranked-choice voting, will take place Tuesday, June 12. Many towns will decide municipal elections and referendum questions the same day. Polling places appear below. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in all locations.
Lesson Learned the Hard Way
One of the hardest lessons to learn in life’s journey is that age-old statement that you really don’t know what you have or how it so strongly impacts your life until it is taken away from you. This has a much more powerful impact when it has a truly spiritual connection. And this is further compounded when you abuse that spirituality and it results in a loss where you can never right the wrong you did. Actually, as in my case, part of you dies, as well, with that loss.
Hodgdon Green Happenings
May was a month of birthdays at Hodgdon Green, the assisted-living home in Damariscotta. Celebrating were residents Patty Hagar, Doug Halm, and Eleanor Mitchell. Blessings on them for a year ahead filled with contentment and joy in being.
