‘Mini Roots’ Camp at Hidden Valley Nature Center
Hearty Roots will be offering its first-ever “Mini Roots” session for boys and girls ages 7-9 at Hidden Valley Nature Center, 131 Egypt Road, Jefferson. The camp will run from 9 a.m. on Friday, March 16 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 17. Campers will spend the night in one of the cabins at Midcoast Conservancy’s Hidden Valley Nature Center, a 1,000-acre preserve with nearly 30 miles of trails and frontage on Little Dyer Pond.
Construction at DRA’s Round Top Farm to Kick Off Soon
The historic farmhouse at DRA’s Round Top Farm in Damariscotta will be undergoing renovations this year, with work scheduled to begin in mid-March. Damariscotta River Association, the land trust and conservation organization that owns the property, plans to relocate its administrative headquarters to the farmhouse when work is complete this fall.
Girl Scout Troop No. 144 Cookie Booth News
Nobleboro Girl Scout Troop No. 144 had its most successful cookie booth ever this past Saturday, March 3. The remaining booths will be at 441 Main St. in Damariscotta, across from Dunkin’ Donuts, on Saturday, March 10 from 9 a.m. to noon; on Saturday, March 24 from 9 a.m. to noon; and Saturday, March 31 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Round Pond Column
For two to three years, I have tried to get a picture of Pippo, Kathy and Russ Mack’s dog, as he guards Round Pond from his lofty perch on their front yard. Finally, while walking by a couple of weeks ago, I was able to snatch a quick picture before he hopped down. I do believe that Pippo determines who is allowed into the village and who is not.
Caribbean Night Coming to Opera House
March roared in like a lion with the high-octane appearance of the acclaimed “celtgrass” group We Banjo 3 at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor, and the month continues with an open mic and the annual Caribbean Night, featuring the island sound of the Pan Fried Steel steel-drum band.

PWA Gallery Showcases Donated Art
Members of the public are encouraged to visit the Pemaquid Watershed Association office art gallery, at 584 Main St. in Damariscotta, to view some beautiful pieces of art from the PWA collection. These pieces were generously donated to the organization over the past few years. The collection includes paintings, photographs, prints, and drawings, most of which are original works of art that range in size and scope.
