Students at the Boothbay Sea and Science Center capped off their summer program with a day-long visit to the University of Maine’s Darling Marine Center. Under the leadership of Lili Pugh, the marine center’s K-12 education coordinator, nearly 30 Boothbay campers ages 5-13 learned about shellfish aquaculture.

Claw Down Tickets Still Available
There are a limited number of tickets still available for the sixth annual Claw Down – Maine Lobster Bite Competition. The competition features 10 Maine chefs who will compete with their best lobster bite for the title of 2017 Maine Claw Down Chef of the Year.

Mid-Coast Energy Systems Participates in Hire-a-Vet Campaign
On Aug. 29, Mid-Coast Energy Systems was among 140 other businesses to set up a booth for the Hire-a-Vet campaign in the Augusta Armory. The state-sponsored program is under the direction of the Maine Department of Labor. Its goal is to result in the hiring of 100 Maine veterans to be hired within one 100 days.

Electronic Navigation Course
An electronic navigation course will take place on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Wiscasset Middle High School, aimed at those overwhelmed by all the functions on a GPS or chart plotter, those who want to use a tablet or smartphone to help navigate on a boat, and those interested in using a desktop computer program to plan a cruise and then copy that information to a GPS.
