Liz and I have been collecting phone numbers from everyone in town as they come into office. With cellphones being used mostly, if you don’t leave your number, we have no way of contacting you. If there is a problem or we need information about something for the office, it is very hard to get the work done. So please, if we forget to ask, remind us and we will be very happy.

The Kefauver Studio & Gallery, at 144 Bristol Road in Damariscotta, is calling for artists to participate in its “Monhegan Days” art show, running from Sept. 15 through Oct. 9.

Lobsterman for a Day

Retired banker and real estate agent Alden McFarland calls lobstering his therapy. He has been lobstering most of his life and, like most fishermen, loves his time on the water. He calls himself a fair-weather lobsterman, and with just 200 traps, it is more of a hobby than a career.

Judith Svea (Carlson) Moreau

Judith Svea (Carlson) Moreau, 76, of Franklin, Mass., passed away suddenly on Aug. 18 at Milford Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of her beloved soul mate Ernest R. Moreau, a.k.a. Bumpa.  

Betty Crocker May 7, 1946 - Aug. 20, 2017

Betty Crocker, of Coopers Mills, left this life Aug. 20 surrounded by her four children. Betty was born May 7, 1946, the youngest child of Delbert F. and Inez R. Sproul Brann.

Marilyn Law, 88, a longtime resident of the Damariscotta and New Harbor area, passed away on Aug. 14.

St. Philip’s Help Yourself Shelf is Hannaford Beneficiary

St. Philip’s Episcopal Church’s Help Yourself Shelf, a nonprofit in Wiscasset committed to helping to ease food insecurity, has been selected as a beneficiary of Hannaford Supermarket’s Cause Bag program for the month of September. The Hannaford Cause Bag program launched in October 2015 and is designed to support local hunger relief organizations through the sale of reusable Fight Hunger bags.

Susan and Geoffrey Bates, of South Bristol, are very pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Carter Barrows Bates, to Diana Migliaccio Bardes.

Divorces

Arthur Edward DeLorenzo Jr., of Jefferson, and Sondra Lee DeLorenzo, of Jefferson, were granted a divorce on July 28. They were married in Edgewater, Md. on July 3, 2000. Shared parental rights of four minor children. Name changed to Sondra Lee Theobald.

Monarch Butterfly Program at Pemaquid Beach Park

From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Aug. 24, teacher-naturalist Fran Ludwig will share her knowledge about the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. During this Beachcombers’ Rest Nature Center workshop, participants will learn how to raise a monarch from an egg and feed it before bidding it “adios” as it journeys to Mexico.
