Liz and I have been collecting phone numbers from everyone in town as they come into office. With cellphones being used mostly, if you don’t leave your number, we have no way of contacting you. If there is a problem or we need information about something for the office, it is very hard to get the work done. So please, if we forget to ask, remind us and we will be very happy.

Lobsterman for a Day
Retired banker and real estate agent Alden McFarland calls lobstering his therapy. He has been lobstering most of his life and, like most fishermen, loves his time on the water. He calls himself a fair-weather lobsterman, and with just 200 traps, it is more of a hobby than a career.

St. Philip’s Help Yourself Shelf is Hannaford Beneficiary
St. Philip’s Episcopal Church’s Help Yourself Shelf, a nonprofit in Wiscasset committed to helping to ease food insecurity, has been selected as a beneficiary of Hannaford Supermarket’s Cause Bag program for the month of September. The Hannaford Cause Bag program launched in October 2015 and is designed to support local hunger relief organizations through the sale of reusable Fight Hunger bags.

Monarch Butterfly Program at Pemaquid Beach Park
From 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Aug. 24, teacher-naturalist Fran Ludwig will share her knowledge about the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. During this Beachcombers’ Rest Nature Center workshop, participants will learn how to raise a monarch from an egg and feed it before bidding it “adios” as it journeys to Mexico.
