Bristol Lions Golf Tournament Prize is New Jeep Cherokee

Newcastle Chrysler will offer a 2017 Jeep Cherokee as the prize for hitting a hole-in-one on the third hole at the ninth Annual Bristol Area Lions Golf Tournament at the Wawenock Golf Club in Walpole on Saturday, Sept. 2, with a rain date of Sept. 3.

Jan Kilburn Gallery to Host ‘Guests on the Lawn’

The Jan Kilburn Gallery in Damariscotta will host a large group of artists painting en plein air on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to the gallery’s “Guests on the Lawn” event to see many of the area’s noted artists, working in watercolor, pastel, and oil. It is a chance to peek over the shoulder of an artist, watch a painting come to life, and perhaps go home with a piece of original art that was created before one’s eyes.

Cellist April Reed-Cox to Perform Bach at St. Paul’s Union Chapel

St. Paul’s Union Chapel in Waldoboro is pleased to welcome back cellist April Reed-Cox on Friday, Aug. 25 at 7:30 p.m. for an evening of Bach, improvisations, and a short set for voice and cello. The chapel is located at 1075 Dutch Neck Road, Waldoboro.

RSU 40 Bus Routes

RSU 40 Transportation Director George Bridges is pleased to announce the bus routes for the 2017-2018 school year. Monday, Aug. 28 is the first day for grades one through nine, and Tuesday, Aug. 29 will be the first day for grades 10-12. For pre-K and kindergarten students, Tuesday, Sept. 5 will be the first day of school.

Inventor and pilot Richard (Dick) Chutter, a long time resident of Round Pond, died Aug. 8 after a 12-year struggle with prostate cancer.

Willow Grange, 71 Washington Road in Jefferson, will hold a public baked bean supper Saturday, Aug. 19. The supper will include two kinds of baked beans, macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, assorted salads, homemade rolls and biscuits, and assorted pies.
