Boothbay Region Residents Can Get Free Smoke Alarms
The American Red Cross of Maine is teaming up with local partners to make residents of Southport, Boothbay, and Boothbay Harbor safer by installing free smoke alarms in their homes on Saturday, Aug. 26.

A community prayer drop box is ready to accept prayers at Edgecomb Community Church. The wooden box painted gray is located to the left of the front entrance of Edgecomb Community Church, at 15 Cross Point Road, Edgecomb. Recently installed, the prayer drop box is available for anyone who would like to leave a request for a prayer, either for themselves or others. When requesting a prayer, one may remain anonymous or sign one’s name or initials.

This week’s photo is the lily leaf beetle, Lilioceris lilli. The lily leaf beetle is a native of Europe and was first reported in the U.S. in 1997. Asiatic lilies are especially vulnerable to attack from this pest. Day lilies are not affected.

Parent Program of Mid-Coast Maine Inc. New Name of Teen Parent Program
The Parent Program of Mid-Coast Maine Inc. is the new name of the Teen and Young Parent Program of Knox County Inc. The program has grown from a small group of committed volunteer mentors working with teen parents to a team of professional parent educators who offer the Maine Families program to all families who are pregnant or have a newborn living in Knox, Lincoln, and Sagadahoc counties.
