The Standish Scots defeated Lincoln County 11&12 Little League softball all-stars 11-1 in five innings on July 15 to eliminate them from the State playoffs. The Scots advance to the championship round against undefeated Biddeford.
Oceanside slams four homeruns in win over Medomak Oceanside 18 - Medomak 6
Oceanside hit four homeruns, led by Hunter Norton with three in their 18-6 win over Medomak 11&12 Little League baseball all-stars in District 2 tournament play on July 13. Oceanside smashed 23 hits in the win, led by Norton with three homeruns, a double and single, Brady Wadsworth three singles, Alec Radley a homerun and two singles and Alex Bartlett three singles.
Hagar powers Lincoln County past Five Town Lincoln 9 - Five Town 2
Gabe Hagar drove in five runs with a single and triple to lead Lincoln County 9&10 Little League all-stars to a 9-2 win over Five Town in the District 2 semi-finals on July 13. Tucker Stiles and Braxton Crockett combined on Lincoln’s mound for a three hitter in the win.
Oversight Leads to Ineligibility in Lincoln Little League Medomak concedes D2 title to Lincoln
Due to a glitch in paperwork, Lincoln Little League players from Boothbay and Wiscasset have been ruled ineligible by Maine Little League to play in the District 2 and state playoffs. Wiscasset has been a part of Lincoln Little League for three years, and Boothbay for two.
Niagara Falls Legend Still Playing Basketball at 81
Tom Justice, 81, of Jefferson, has been playing basketball on and off for 71 years. He moved to Maine nine years ago and started playing pickup basketball games at the CLC YMCA in Damariscotta.
Reed’s Running Streak Hits 40 Years
Every day for the past 40 years, Dr. Stephen D. Reed, of Wiscasset, has laced up his running shoes and gone on a 3-mile run. Reed reached the 40-year milestone Thursday, June 16. His streak is the ninth-longest of its kind in the world, and is at the top of the charts for Maine.

J.R. Leigh, formerly of Jefferson, was a quiet, skinny kid while in high school at Lincoln Academy in the 1990s. He liked to tinker with cars and skateboard. He and his father bought and overhauled used cars, turning them into high-end machines teenage boys would love to drive.
Benner Fills a Niche Making Model Boat Hulls
Brent Benner, of Walpole, builds fiberglass hulls for radio-controlled model boats at Walpole Model Boatworks in his grandfather Chester Rice’s garage. When the Olde Bristol Days Committee was looking for volunteers, Benner stepped forward and started and sponsored the first annual Jerry Farrin Model Lobster Boat Races at Olde Bristol Days.
