Local YMCAs Announce Joint Winter I Program Guide

On Dec. 16, the Central Lincoln County YMCA and the Boothbay Region YMCA opened registration for its first-ever joint program guide for the Winter I session. The session runs Jan. 6 to Feb. 29.

Lifelong Communities Mini-Grant Program Seeks Applications

at

Grants of up to $2,500 are available through the Maine Community Foundation to help communities be more supportive of older people’s health, well-being, and ability to age in the community. The grants will support community planning and development and implementation of programs that increase opportunities for people over 60 to stay in their communities as they age.

Boothbay Region Christmas Dinner

All are invited to attend the free annual Boothbay Region Christmas Dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 25 from noon-2 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Industrial Drive in Boothbay. The snow date is Thursday, Dec. 26.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the headquarters of the local charity organization Noah’s Dragons as it begins its annual holiday toy drive for the kids at Spring Harbor Psychiatric Hospital in Westbrook.

District Attorney Natasha Irving will speak about restorative justice at the next Integrated Medication Assisted Treatment Services Advisory Team meeting, set for Thursday, Dec. 19 from 7:30-9 a.m. The meeting will take place at the LincolnHealth Education Department, 66 Chapman St., Damariscotta, in classroom 4.

For the second year in a row, the Alna Snowmobile Club swept both the Spirit Award and the People’s Choice Award for its entry in the Parade of Lights.

Now Through Mid-April is Time to Eliminate Browntail Caterpillars

Entomologists from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry are reminding everyone that now is the best time to remove browntail caterpillars from trees. Browntail caterpillars cause a poison ivy-like rash and they are impacting a broad swath of Maine. Contact with this caterpillar’s hairs can cause severe reactions for some individuals.

Newcastle 18-Year-Old Achieves Rank of Eagle Scout

Damon Crummett, 18, of Newcastle, was presented with his Eagle Scout badge during a court of honor on Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Wells-Hussey American Legion Post No. 42 in Damariscotta.

Waldoboro Toy Program Seeks Donations

The Waldoboro Police Department is accepting donations of new and clean used toys, new mittens, and winter hats, or cash contributions, for the Waldoboro Toy Program. People should drop all donations at the Waldoboro Police Department, at 1600 Atlantic Highway in Waldoboro, during regular business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
