Hope Gets 35-Year Lions Service Award
At a recent meeting, Bristol Area Lions Club Treasurer Michael Hope received his 35-year chevron from Maine District Governor-Elect Neil Iverson. In addition to his duties as treasurer, Hope chairs the club’s finance committee and scholarship committee. He has been awarding scholarships to Lincoln Academy graduates for 32 years. Hope also coordinates the annual Christmas food-basket distribution.
Free Summer Meals for Kids
Several local organizations are coming together to provide local youth with free, healthy meals throughout the summer through the USDA-funded Summer Food Service Program.

Healthy Lincoln County is celebrating the start of its sixth summer food-service program at Waldoboro Day, Saturday, June 16 at A.D. Gray School. Healthy Lincoln County will have an information tent at Waldoboro Day, with meal-site locations, schedules, menus, giveaways, and volunteer sign-ups.
Passport to Farm Fun in Somerville on June 16
Members of the public are encouraged to get out a sun hat and grab a passport for the Somerville Farmers Network’s day of farm fun on Saturday, June 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. One can travel to seven diverse farms in the Somerville area, and experience a world of delights within a 10-mile radius.

Seedlings will Encourage Rebound of American Chestnut in Maine
The discovery of a mature American chestnut tree on a bank of the Kennebec River near the Pownalborough Court House in Dresden offers hope for a revival of the species. Because there are no neighboring trees from which to pollinate, this lone tree has never had burrs, which hold seeds. At 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, Tom Klak, of the American Chestnut Foundation of Maine, will plant three hybrid seedlings to encourage pollination of the courthouse specimen.
Made in Lincoln County to Hit Newsstands June 14
Made in Lincoln County, the second issue of Lincoln County Magazine for 2018, will make its debut June 14.
Polling Hours and Places
The primary election for candidates for Maine governor, the Maine Legislature, and other offices, as well as a statewide referendum on ranked-choice voting, will take place Tuesday, June 12. Many towns will decide municipal elections and referendum questions the same day. Polling places appear below. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in all locations.
Lobster Boat Ride for Veterans
On Sunday, June 10, all veterans are invited to join other veterans and take a Boothbay Harbor cruise aboard one of the area lobstermen’s lobster boats or one of Captain Fish’s tour boats – great camaraderie while enjoying the most scenic harbor in Maine!
