The art on the walls of Damariscotta River Grill brightens the days of winter, showcasing a variety of artists, subjects, styles, and mediums. The Art at the Grill series is hosting 18 members of the Pemaquid Group of Artists through March 12.

Alexsondra Tomasulo, of The Artist’s Haven, formerly Mud of the Ages, has reopened her studio on Clarks Cove Road in Walpole.

On Saturday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m., The Boneheads and The Holy Mackerels will perform at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor.

Cathie Stebbins Peterson is a fiber artist from Freeport who is sharing her works at the Pemaquid Watershed Association office-gallery for its final show, “Woolscapes.”

St. Cecilia Chamber Choir will hold auditions for all voice parts. St. Cecilia Chamber Choir is an auditioned community chorus that rehearses Wednesday evenings at St. Andrew’s Church in Newcastle.

The Waldoboro Public Library Artist of the Month for January and February is Waldoboro resident Elaine Abel.

Great Salt Bay Community School art teacher Karen Hight and her students are displaying their work beginning Monday, Dec. 31, until Feb. 2.

‘The Grinch’

Based on the classic Dr. Seuss classic story, “The Grinch” lives a solitary life inside a cave on Mount Crumpet with only his loyal dog, Max, for company. With a cave rigged with inventions and contraptions for his day-to-day needs, the Grinch only sees his neighbors in Whoville when he runs out of food. When the Whos declare they are going to make Christmas three times bigger this year, the Grinch realizes there is only one way for him to gain some peace and quiet: he must steal Christmas. To do so, he decides he will pose as Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, even going so far as to trap a lackadaisical misfit reindeer to pull his sleigh.

The Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta will show the award-winning 1993 film “Schindler’s List” on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. and on Friday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. The film won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and this special presentation is part of The Lincoln Theater Classic Film Club series.

The work on display in fiber artist Cathie Stebbins Peterson’s “Woolscapes” show ranges from her framed, almost-photographic depiction of a horseshoe crab in hand-dyed wool, silk, and nylon sparkle to a colorful abstract piece created with dyed wool and alpaca fleece called “Inch By Inch” to the downright craft-y, in the form of Peterson’s knitted shoulder wraps called “Hugs.”
