We are excited to have another weekend of classic songs by Rodgers and Hammerstein on our Lincoln Theater stage. Our Y-Arts camp friends return for their final musical for the summer, a highly acclaimed performance from the National Theatre in London is broadcast, as is one of the greatest concert films of all time. Exciting times ahead.
Watershed Open House is Aug. 20

Art of empowerment: Last Friday, Aug. 2, was an interesting, art-filled day for me. I spent the day on Monhegan Island taking in, among other arts-related things, the exhibit currently on the walls of the Monhegan Museum of Art & History, “A Life Made in Art: Maud Briggs Knowlton” (more on that fine show in next week’s paper).
Artists Come Together to Paint Town, Support Community
Artists pitched in this past weekend to help out various local organizations during an annual event in Waldoboro called Paint the Town, Waldoboro. The event took place on Saturday, Aug. 3, with painting commencing bright and early at 7 a.m., at which point artists worked to paint a variety of scenes around the Midcoast town.

Review: River Company Presents Fresh Take on ‘Much Ado’
The well-known Shakespeare play “Much Ado About Nothing” could be interpreted as a very early version of the sitcom “Seinfeld,” the show about nothing that some consider the funniest show in television history. The production really is about nothing, or more accurately “noting,” which is a term from Shakespeare’s day that means “gossip, rumour, and overhearing,” according to Claire McEachern’s scholarly Arden Shakespeare introduction to the classic.
Sculpture Symposium Starts on Boothbay Common
From Saturday, July 27 to Sunday, Aug. 4, the public is encouraged to visit the Boothbay Common to meet eight accomplished Maine sculptors, along with their guests from Japan and Canada, as they create works of art from granite and other stone during the Maine Stone Symposium.
