Paul’s Union Chapel is pleased to announce our first concert in the 2023 Summer Music Series on Saturday June 24 at 7:30 p.m.
One of the most exciting nights of world music at St. Paul’s last summer was the Maine Middle East Ensemble, featuring the multi-instrumentalist, Eric LaPerna. This year he is back as a duo with Nathan Kolosko, calling themselves the Seyir Duo
Nathan Kolosko, also a multi-instrumentalist and composer, has been on the faculty of the University of Southern Maine, St. Joseph’s College, Maine College of Art and the Portland Conservatory of Music. He has studied with luminaries from the guitar world including Ricardo Iznaola, the Castellani-Andriaccio Duo, Pierre Bensusan, Lorenzo Micheli and Oscar Ghiglia. Nathan has over twenty published compositions which have been performed and recorded by musicians throughout the world; from Japan and Taiwan, to Belgium, New Zealand and Australia. Nathan has received grants and awards from the Maine Arts Commission, the Allied Arts Foundation and D’Addario Strings.
The Seyir Duo performs music which spans from the mystic world of the Sufis to the classical music of ancient Persia. Eric and Nathan’s histories as multi-instrumentalists allows the duo to explore an extensive array of timbres and traditions. Whether it is Egyptian dance music or Armenian folk songs, the duo always strives for an authentic and sensitive approach to the repertoire they perform.
Tickets for this event can be purchased at the door. Suggested donation is $10 per person. Chapel seating is limited to 60 people.
The Chapel is located at 1055 Dutch Neck Road in Waldoboro. For more information, please contact Eric Stark at 732 762 2862 or stark.waldoboro@gmail.com

06/27/2023 | 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Do you want to influence the world with your writing? Are you passionate about climate justice? In this camp, Maine Climate Action Now and The Telling Room invite youth writers to craft their own climate poems.
We’ll find inspiration on the shores of Belfast harbor, in our own climate experiences, and in the work of poet activists. We’ll play with found poetry to transform the daily grind of climate news into beauty and powerful action, as well as look at how poets use voice, rhythm, metaphors, and other tools to surprise readers with new ways of looking at the world.
Crafting your own Climate Poetry workshop will go from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from June 27-29 at the Waterfall Arts Center in Belfast. For ages 14 – 30, free with stipends available! Deadline to sign up is June 12.
For details and registration, go to tinyurl.com/climatepoetry.
To read climate stories from previous workshops, go to maineclimateaction.org/climate-stories.
