Dana Anne Crocker, 81, of Damariscotta, devoted wife of Sheldon Crocker, passed away peacefully Feb. 17 at the Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast, surrounded by her daughter and grandchildren.

Browntail Moth Caterpillars Present Challenge for Alna School

Browntail moth caterpillars have become a major problem for the Midcoast area and Juniper Hill School for Place-Based education in Alna is no exception. School parent Carl Wilson spent a recent sunny Sunday cutting branches of the school’s apple trees that have been invaded by the browntail month. Ably assisted by his wife, Anne Simpson, Wilson was able to clear away the infestation.

Colby & Gale Service Station Renovation

Beginning Monday, March 18, the Colby & Gale service station at 105 Main St. in Damariscotta will be closed for renovations. Colby & Gale will be replacing the station’s underground fuel tanks and dispensing equipment. The construction will take 4-5 weeks.

Waldoboro Author Publishes Children’s Book

Waldoboro author and illustrator Tatyana Eckstrand recently published her third children’s book, “Common Senses.” Written for children ages 5-10 and using the senses as characters, this rhyming epic exposes young readers to how people’s relationahips with one another have an effect upon the Earth.
