Doublet Design, located on Wiscasset’s Creamery Pier, is hosting the second in the SHED Talks at Dusk series on Thursday, July 27, 8:30 p.m., following the Wiscasset Art Walk. Local ceramic artist Juliette Walker will exhibit and discuss her work with the public.

Time is running out to see Heartwood Regional Theater Company’s production of “Into the Woods.” One of Stephen Sondheim’s most popular works, “Into the Woods” is a musically sophisticated epic fairy tale about wishes, family, and the choices people make. 

Paul Sherman and Liliana Thelander are two of the talented artists whose work can be seen at Pemaquid Art Gallery in Bristol this summer. They both use familiar objects and landscapes as jumping-off points for meticulous compositions that are exciting and personal rather than simply photographic.

ArtWalk Waldoboro kicked off for the season Saturday, July 8. Like last year’s ArtWalk, this year’s version features Philippe Guillerm Gallery, the Heywood Gallery, and Tidemark Gallery. But this year, some new stops have been added, most notably Valerie Greene Gallery and Long Winter Soap Co., which, by the looks (and fabulous smell) of it, seems to have mastered the art of soapmaking.

Jim Messina’s consummate legacy of musical prowess spans five decades, three acclaimed rock supergroups, a vibrant solo career, and a dizzying array of game-­changing producing and engineering credits, including The Doors, Lee Michaels, and Herb Alpert. He is an indisputable expert in the fine art of making hit music. On Saturday, July 22, Messina and his band will come to Boothbay Harbor to perform at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor.

“The Boat Show,” a themed art show that opened Friday, June 30 and runs through Sunday, July 23 at Kefauver Studio & Gallery in Damariscotta, is totally focused on boats and things having to do with boats, as the name of the show implies. It features 22 artists, including gallery owner and painter Will Kefauver.

Every once in a while, an artist comes along whose work captures something about the world in such a refreshing, enlightening way that one is forced to simply stop and look and just say “wow!” The paintings of Bremen artist Michael Blaze Petan fit into this exclusive category. Petan’s must-see “My Neck of the Woods” show currently hangs on the walls of the West Gallery at River Arts in Damariscotta through Wednesday, July 12.
