The Waldoboro Farmers Market could move from the village to Route 1 next year, one of several changes organizers hope will bring more vendors and customers to the seasonal market.

More than 100 leaders of local businesses filled the Darrows Barn at Round Top Farm in Damariscotta on Friday, Sept. 22 for the inaugural Twin Villages Business Forum.

A public hearing about a Portland developer’s proposal for an 11-acre property at 435 Main St. in Damariscotta attracted more than 50 people to the Great Salt Bay Community School gym Monday, Sept. 18.

AOS 93 will hold a public forum in November and each of the district’s individual school committees will hold special meetings to address concerns about Lincoln Academy, the private high school where the district sends most of its students. The district will also conduct a survey to gather public feedback on the matter.

The Dresden Board of Selectmen has a tense relationship with the fire department, Third Selectman Allan Moeller said Monday, Sept. 18. The board took several actions related to the department during Monday’s meeting.

Dr. Edward B. Kitfield opened Wiscasset Family Medicine in downtown Wiscasset 40 years ago as a place to apply his patient-centered, community-based approach to health care. Kitfield sold the practice to Dr. Cortney Linville, who he recruited to join Wiscasset Family Medicine about two years ago, in July.

Due to the generosity of local businesses and residents, a tractor-trailer filled to capacity with bottled water, clothing, pet food, and other hurricane-relief supplies departed Damariscotta for Florida the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 17, a full nine days earlier than organizers anticipated.

The Wiscasset Historic Preservation Ordinance and the commission it established received strong support during a public hearing before the Wiscasset Planning Board about a proposal to repeal the ordinance. Voters will consider the repeal Nov. 7.

Downtown Wiscasset, the Waldo Theatre, and the Wiscasset Historic Preservation Commission are among the entries on Maine Preservation’s 19th list of most endangered historic places in Maine.

Wiscasset will again vote on the planning department budget, due to a citizen’s petition turned in less than a month after voters reinstated the department at a special town meeting.

A proposal by Bremen developer Dan Goldenson to build an eight-room motel near Hilltop Stop in Damariscotta met encouragement from the Damariscotta Planning Board on Monday, Sept. 11.

Fire departments from Portland to Presque Isle gathered on the Boothbay peninsula Sept. 7-10 for the 54th Maine State Federation of Firefighters Convention. The convention was a time of celebration, remembrance, and friendly competition.
