This week we have our final conversation for 2016 in our Talking Art in Maine series. If you’ve never had a chance to join us for one of these talks, don’t miss it. They are a pleasure. And, in this season of political drama, we open a political documentary that includes a number of players in the current political landscape and won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. It is also already being spoken of as a top contender for this year’s Oscar.
DRA’s Midcoast Music Fest
The Damariscotta River Association will present its annual Midcoast Music Fest, a summer concert series taking place at 6:30 p.m. on both Thursday, July 14 and Saturday, July 16. This year’s festival lineup features Primo Cubano, the Jason Spooner Band, the Oyster Creek Fiddlers, and more. The public is invited to enjoy music, food (including oysters), and beer in the Darrows Barn at DRA’s Round Top Farm, 3 Round Top Lane, Damariscotta. The Midcoast Music Fest supports the conservation and education work of the DRA.

The Medomak Valley Land Trust is celebrating 25 years of conservation with a special 25th-anniversary scavenger hunt for children throughout the region.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Boothbay Civic Association will host its 30th annual celebration on the town common.
Bean, Chicken, and Seafood Supper
The public is invited to visit the historic St. Paul’s Union Chapel and Dutch Neck Schoolhouse in Waldoboro from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, July 1 to enjoy a wonderful supper while helping to raise funds for the repair and preservation of these two buildings. Breaking somewhat with the traditional bean supper, the menu will also feature the best that Maine has to offer from the local waters and local kitchens. Traditional home-baked beans will be accompanied by lobster and haddock stew, clam souffle, chicken and other casseroles, as well as salads, homemade desserts, and beverages.

Opioid/Heroin Education and Awareness Festival
The Maine Love of Recovery Music Festival will be held at Clark’s Cove Farm, 107 Ridge Road, Walpole on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26 and 27. The aim of the festival is to bring awareness and education about the current opioid/heroin epidemic in Maine and the United States as a whole. This event is free to all and open to the public.
