Catching up with Lincoln Theater: I was having lunch the other day at King Eider’s Pub in Damariscotta with a couple of my LCN co-workers and had the pleasure of running into Lincoln Theater Executive Director Andrew Fenniman there as I was leaving. We started chatting about what’s going on at the theater, a conversation that needed more time than I had (since I had to get back to the workplace), so I asked him to please lay it out for me in an email.
Wouldn’t Be the Same Without LCN
My wife, Heidi, and I had no business being out last Wednesday night and I am not talking about the weather. True, it had stormed most of the day, but by the time we were ready to drive to Damariscotta, the roads were mostly clear. A few weeks before I had heard about an open house at The Lincoln County News. It was scheduled for that evening as part of a Business After Hours event for the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce. Having no real connection with either, I wasn’t sure why, but I knew I wanted to attend.

I am sure you have noticed that the weather seems more unpredictable than ever. Snow, rain, sleet, freezing rain, wicked cold, unusual warmth — we get it all, and sometimes within the same day! If you love playing in the snow, take advantage when it is here. Last week, we managed several nice days of skiing before the big melt and rain came again. We also enjoyed hiking in both of our local preserves and are grateful that we can drive to them in about 10 minutes.

RSU 12 School Board Meetings/Community Forum
As one of the Whitefield parents who spoke at the “contentious” RSU 12 school board meeting on Dec. 14, I would like to clarify some of our concerns and requests that were brought to the meeting. Though I do not claim to be the voice of all of the parents in the community, I have spoken to enough of them to know that the thoughts presented here are not unique, and our family is not alone in our concern.
Imperative That Residents Be Informed
As a member of the Bristol Dam Advisory Committee and former selectman, I feel it is imperative that the residents of Bristol should be fully informed of the findings of the dam committee. Our mission was to investigate, with the aid of the Wright-Pierce engineering firm, ways to increase fish migration to the headwaters of the Pemaquid River. As noted in the LCN for the past months, the committee has worked on three options.

Paws for Thought
Sometimes I don’t have a story. Usually everything goes well when I’m pet sitting. Nobody gets sick, runs out the door, or brings in a fuzzy creature for me to chase. Considering how often I spend time with other peoples’ pets, this is probably a good thing. It doesn’t make for a very good story, however. Instead, I thought it might be helpful to understand the human taking care of your beloved pets.
