The Lincoln Academy girls’ swim team placed seventh at the State Class B swimming championships at the University of Maine Orono on Saturday.

Lincoln Academy girls and Wiscasset boys won their final home swim meet of the season Tuesday night.

Medomak Valley cheerleaders poured their heart and soul into their performance Saturday afternoon at the Augusta Civic Center and were rewarded with the 2011 Western Maine Class B championship. The regional title is the first for the Panthers.

Lincoln Academy girls swam to KVAC Gold Friday night at the Bath YMCA. The Lady Eagles won eight out of 11 races to claim their first ever Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference swimming championship. Lincoln swimmers broke four school records in the meet, including both freestyle relays.

Four Medomak Valley wrestlers placed at the Eastern Maine Class B championships at MDI Feb. 5 and qualified for the State Class B championships, to be held at the Augusta Civic Center, on Sat., Feb. 12.

Medomak Valley’s Stefan Nicholls (130) placed third and Lincoln Academy’s Dalton Peaslee (285) fourth at the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) championships at Mt. Ararat High School on Saturday.

Great Salt Bay girls’ basketball team won the Busline League championship, 34-21 over St. George Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Academy. The Lady Cougars led the entire game, jumping out to a 6-0 lead. Olivia York scored the opening hoop, and Leslie Sandefur settled two at the foul line and went inside on a pass from Danielle Pinkham in the quick start.

Wiscasset boys’ basketball team got off to a slow start with cold shooting in the first quarter.

Wiscasset girls defeated Winthrop 38-36 on Jan. 27 to pick up their second win of the season.

The Eagles stayed with Medomak in first half action, before the Panthers roared to 43 second half points to put the game out of reach in the two teams’ season finale on Feb. 10. The game was a must win for both teams, Lincoln Academy needed a win to make the West B playoffs, and Medomak needed the win to challenge Camden for the KVAC championship.
