The 150-acre Stetser Preserve in Jefferson is owned by the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association (SVCA). Its official opening and dedication will be held on October 17.
The Damariscotta Lake Watershed Association acquired the 230-acre West Branch Preserve in Somerville in 2006. The parcel connects with West Branch, Jefferson to form the 470-acre West Branch Preserve.
The Westport Island Shore Run 10K Road Race will be held on Sun., Aug. 23 at 9 a.m. The race starts at the old Town Hall on the Main Road (Rt. 144) and is on USATF certified course through scenic pines and fire tree forests, over two bridges spanning inlets to Heal Cove and Montsweag Bay.
Rockland beat Lincoln County 11-12 Little League All-stars 9-1 in the District 2 championships on July 22 to advance to the state tournament.
Our very own Nick Waltz competed in the qualifying round for the Maine Amateur Championship held at Brunswick Golf Club on June 22. Only 40 of the 119 golfers would advance to the championship.
