Medomak Valley’s Stefan Nicholls (130) placed third and Lincoln Academy’s Dalton Peaslee (285) fourth at the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) championships at Mt. Ararat High School on Saturday.
GSB Lady Cougars Win Busline League Crown
Great Salt Bay girls’ basketball team won the Busline League championship, 34-21 over St. George Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Academy. The Lady Cougars led the entire game, jumping out to a 6-0 lead. Olivia York scored the opening hoop, and Leslie Sandefur settled two at the foul line and went inside on a pass from Danielle Pinkham in the quick start.

Wiscasset boys’ basketball team got off to a slow start with cold shooting in the first quarter.

Wiscasset girls defeated Winthrop 38-36 on Jan. 27 to pick up their second win of the season.
Panthers Roar Over Eagles In KVAC Finale
The Eagles stayed with Medomak in first half action, before the Panthers roared to 43 second half points to put the game out of reach in the two teams’ season finale on Feb. 10. The game was a must win for both teams, Lincoln Academy needed a win to make the West B playoffs, and Medomak needed the win to challenge Camden for the KVAC championship.

Five Lincoln Academy swim records were broken at Camden Friday night.
Nobleboro Lions Win Busline League Championship
Nobleboro boys’ basketball team won the 2011 Busline League championship team Saturday, 56-45 over Thomaston, to finish the season undefeated. Thomaston scored the first two baskets of the game, but that would be the only lead the Clippers would hold. The Lions answered with eight straight points. Austin York scored on a Colton Spear pass then connected on two at the foul line to give Nobleboro the lead.
Hornets Sting Lady Eagles
Leavitt jumped out to a 13-2 lead and continued to roll in their win over Lincoln Friday night in Newcastle.
Hornets Top Medomak Girls For KVAC Title
Medomak Valley gave undefeated Leavitt a run for their money Saturday night at Cony High School in Augusta in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championship match-up. Leavitt out scored the Panthers 41-29 in the second half to pull out a KVAC 65-51 title win.
Medomak Valley Sports Awards Postponed
Medomak Valley sports awards, originally scheduled for Mon., Feb. 28, has been postponed because of snow. Awards night has been moved to Wed., March 9 at 6:30 p.m.
