Undefeated LA Girls Tennis Earns State Championship in Thriller Lincoln Academy 3 - Old Town 2
The Lincoln Academy girls tennis team overcame adversity to win the Class B state championship with a gutsy 3-2 victory over Old Town on Tuesday, June 11 at Bates College in Lewiston. The Eagles fell behind 2-0 in the hot sun before storming back to win all three singles matches and claim the crown.

Medomak Girls Lose Semifinal To Rival After Buzzer-Beater Sends Game to OT Oceanside 63 – Medomak Valley 55 in OT
The Medomak Valley girls basketball team could not hold an eight point lead with less than two minutes remaining and lost to rival Oceanside 63-55 in overtime in a dramatic Class B South semifinal game on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at the Portland Expo. Medomak Valley turned the ball over three times down the stretch and Oceanside hit a trio of 3-pointers including a desperate last second heave by Grace Mackie that rattled in off the backboard as time expired to knot the score 53-53 and send it to overtime. Chloe Fox scored a layup to give Medomak a 57-55 advantage in OT, but Oceanside shut them out the rest of the way and drained two more 3-pointers, a basket and a pair of free throws to seal the 63-55 win. Claudia Feeley had her biggest offensive output of the year for the Panthers, scoring 15 points while also pulling down 7 rebounds.
Telstar Rebels Beat Wiscasset in Overtime Telstar 74 - Wiscasset 67 in OT
The third seed Telstar defeated the sixth seed Wiscasset boys basketball team 74-67 in overtime in a South Class D quarter-final game on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Augusta Civic Center. Wiscasset had lost to the Rebels 71-33 during the regular season. The Wolverines came into the contest with a game plan, that they executed near perfectly, except at the foul line, which proved to be their undoing. Wiscasset was led in scoring by Landin Shirey with 20, Jevar Garricks 16 and Julien King 12. Telstar was led by Brody Morgan with 29 and Reiley Hedden with 26.

Wandering around the waterfront, or just gazing out the window; there’s usually something going on. So far this morning, it has been seagulls wishing for fish they can’t reach. Apparently, food is visible swimming around under the thin ice; but I didn’t see a gull catch one.
Panthers Boys Top Spruce Mountain in Battle of Unbeatens Medomak Valley 55 - Spruce Mountain 43
The Medomak Valley boys basketball team beat Spruce Mountain 55-43 in a battle between undefeated Class B South teams on Thursday, Jan. 2 in Waldoboro. Kristian Schumann notched 18 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead all scorers in the game. Gabe Lash scored 17 points, and led the Panthers with seven rebounds. The Panthers improved their regular season record to 7-0 with the win and are now in second place behind York (8-0) in the Heal Points standings in Class B South.
