Lucy Hammond, 90, passed away Dec. 4 at the Cove’s Edge Nursing Home in Damariscotta, where she had been living for the past two years. Born on June 17, 1927 in Arlington, Mass., she was the daughter of Angelo and Louise D’Errico.

Villages of Light Committee Sets Date for 2018 Event
After a successful first outing, the committee behind the Villages of Light celebration has scheduled the 2018 event for Saturday, Nov. 24.

The damage and recovery efforts from October’s storm spilled over into November. In the first days of the month, our volunteers kept busy controlling vehicle traffic for power crews, clearing debris, and responding to generator problems. We want to remind everybody that, even when power is out, a downed power line should be considered live until Central Maine Power has rendered it safe.
Harbor Room Benefit for Boat Shop
On Monday, Dec. 4, The Harbor Room restaurant in New Harbor is hosting a “Make Mondays Matter” fundraiser for The Carpenter’s Boat Shop. Owners Cerina Leeman and Taylor Corson will donate 10 percent of all proceeds from both lunch and dinner to the boat shop.

Waldoboro Tree-Lighting is Dec. 8
Members of the public are encouraged to help Waldoboro light up the town for Christmas at a tree-lighting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m. on the front lawn of the town municipal building on Route 1 in Waldoboro. People can enjoy a traditional community gathering with lighted candles and singing of carols, plus hot cocoa, cookies, and candy canes.
