Newcastle’s Lincoln Academy canceled school on Friday, Sept. 10 after two additional cases of COVID-19 were identified in individuals associated with the school Thursday night—bringing the total to six cases in the first week of school.

Great Salt Bay Community School in Damariscotta canceled school on Friday, Sept. 10 to test carbon monoxide levels in the kitchen.

Students at several Lincoln County schools packed their backpacks, pocketed their lunch money, and headed back to the classroom this week for what everyone hopes will be a “normal” school year.

Wiscasset Elementary School was officially joined by its new principal, Kathleen Pastore, on July 1. 

The South Bristol School Committee unanimously approved the appointment of Charles “Chuck” Hamm as the new principal for South Bristol School on Tuesday, Aug. 3.

After 15 years at South Bristol School, Principal Scott White has taken a new position as principal at RSU 40’s Union Elementary School, closer to his home in Waldoboro.

The Edgecomb Eddy School community will officially be joined by its new principal, Dr. Christina Boursaw, on July 1. 

After 43 years of teaching, 39 of which were at Bristol Consolidated School, Andrea Powell has retired.  

“It’s not how you graduate — it’s that you graduate,” RSU 40 Adult Education Director Kayla Sikora said to the seven students on hand to receive their diplomas at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro. Four other students graduated but were not present at the ceremony. 

Family, friends, teachers, administrators and Medomak Valley High School seniors gathered in two separate groups at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9 to celebrate the graduation of the 105 members of the class of 2021.

Parents and friends gathered at the Wiscasset Speedway on Thursday, June 10 to witness Wiscasset Middle High School’s 35 seniors reach the finish line of their high school careers.
