The Medomak Valley Players will open “The Little Mermaid,” an MTI Production, at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3 in the Ronald E. Dolloff auditorium at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro.

There is something truly inspirational about singing in harmony with a group of people, which may explain why it has lengthy historical and broad cultural roots as well. Some of my favorite high school memories come from singing in the chorus. I’ve got friends who’ve had similar experiences singing at church.

Having followed the long-running conflict between Jeff Spinney and the town of Alna over Spinney’s boat ramp, it was interesting to see the conflict come to some sort of resolution last week when the parties agreed to a settlement following a public hearing on the issue.
