Richard F. Johnson Jr., 93, passed away on Nov. 22, 2019 at his home in Waldoboro. Richard was born on Jan. 12, 1926 to Richard F. Johnson Sr. and Florence (Matson) Johnson in Worcester, Mass.

Mrs. Santa Coming to Bristol Area Library

It is the season when Mrs. Santa comes to the Bristol Area Library, located at 619 Old County Road in Pemaquid, to greet everyone at Mrs. Santa’s Kitchen. It will be a grand morning from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 14, with homemade cookies and candies being sold by the pound at the annual Friends of the Bristol Area Library fundraiser.

Arline Elizabeth (MacFarland) Seigars, 82, of Damariscotta, passed away Nov. 29, 2019 at her son’s home in Anson with her family at her side.

Now Through Mid-April is Time to Eliminate Browntail Caterpillars

Entomologists from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry are reminding everyone that now is the best time to remove browntail caterpillars from trees. Browntail caterpillars cause a poison ivy-like rash and they are impacting a broad swath of Maine. Contact with this caterpillar’s hairs can cause severe reactions for some individuals.

Marie Delia Gervais, 93, of Waldoboro, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019 at her residence.

PRACTICAL ACTION

We applaud the students of the Lincoln Academy Climate Action Club for their engagement with local government in the form of the Newcastle Board of Selectmen. We will applaud these students even more if, rather than pursue passage of a doomsday declaration with no specific policy proposals, they continue to engage with town officials to pursue practical action on climate change.
