Damariscotta River Grill, located at 155 Main St. in downtown Damariscotta, is now hosting artists Valerie Jeanne Borgal, Marc Poirier, and Sarah Lynn Richards, through Monday, June ­­­­­­­­­­­­12. Each painter brings a very distinct style, medium, and subject matter to the show. All work on exhibit is for sale.

The 2003 play “Eurydice,” written by prominent New York City playwright Sarah Ruhl, is – as New York Times reviewer Charles Isherwood put it – a “devastatingly lovely” modern take on the myth of Orpheus, only from the point of view of his wife, Eurydice. Heartwood Regional Theater Company’s upcoming production of “Eurydice,” opening Thursday, April 27 at Lincoln Academy’s Parker B. Poe Theater, does great justice to Ruhl’s lovely, moving work about love, death, memory, and the power of language.

St. Cecilia Chamber Choir, conducted by Linda Blanchard and accompanied by Sean Fleming, will present Maurice Durufle’s beautiful “Requiem” at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7 at the Second Congregational Church, 51 Main St., Newcastle.

It is always nice when businesses use their publicly accessible space to display art. Kudos to First National Bank in downtown Damariscotta for doing just that with the colorful wood-assemblage-on-board pieces created by seasoned Newcastle artist, designer, and architect Jack Hanson. Hanson’s “Maine Icons” exhibit is on display inside the bank through the end of April.

Damariscotta artist Marnie Sinclair announces the opening of her solo show “Balance & Imbalance,” running from April 21-May 19. The show is a collection of sculptures and paintings that reflect her love for nature and her concern for the impact that climate change has on the environment.

River Company announces its 20th season with four exciting productions: “Love Letters,” by A.R. Gurney; “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” by Christopher Durang; “Rhinoceros,” by Eugene Ionesco; and the annual fundraiser, “A Christmas Carol,” by Charles Dickens.

To help welcome spring, the art on the walls of the Pemaquid Watershed Association office, located at 584 Main St. in Damariscotta, features a variety of artists, subjects, styles, and mediums. The office-gallery’s show is hosting the art of 15 members of the Pemaquid Group of Artists through Friday, May 12.

Local photographer Anna Shaw’s current show on the walls of Shapers Fitness Gym in Damariscotta, like the one she exhibited there last year, is a delight for gym-goers as well as for visitors dropping in to see the art. Unlike last year’s show, though, which worked around the theme of memory, nostalgia, and place, Shaw’s new show is a simply a collection of pieces that she likes.

Three-week acrylic painting sessions starting Thursday, April 27 are now being scheduled at Valerie Greene Studio in Waldoboro, with two time slots available.

The Lincoln Academy visual arts faculty announces the reception for the eighth annual Lincoln Academy student art exhibition on Thursday, April 13 from 5-7 p.m. at River Arts, 241 U.S. Route 1, Damariscotta.
