A wave of students walked out of Medomak Valley High School and Medomak Middle School on Monday, Feb. 14.

The AOS 93 Board of Directors unanimously voted to appoint the system’s Assistant Superintendent of Business Lynsey Johnston, as the next superintendent, at its meeting on Feb. 8. 

Wiscasset School Department Superintendent Dr. Terry L. Wood announced on Jan. 27 that Wiscasset schools were going to remote learning due to COVID-19 outbreak status. With less than a day’s notice, Wiscasset Community Center shifted gears to prepare for remote learning at its facility.

The AOS 93 School Board voted unanimously Jan. 11 to create an eight-member internal search committee to interview superintendent candidates and make a recommendation to the board.

Standard operating procedures for Maine schools regarding COVID-19 recently changed to reflect amendments to U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations, according to an announcement from the Maine CDC and the Maine Department of Education on Dec. 30. 

It may be hard to believe, but this is the fifth year of the GSB Students Investigate collaboration between The Lincoln County News and Kelly Girard’s eighth grade language arts classes at Great Salt Bay Community School in Damariscotta.

AOS 93 Superintendent Craig Jurgensen will retire at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. 

The public will vote on the 2022-2023 AOS 93 district budget and interlocal agreement on Dec. 22.

As Lincoln County schools approach the three-month mark of the 2021-22 school year, they are putting to use the hard lessons from the previous 18 months of COVID-19 and looking to new strategies to ensure that students have the best opportunity for learning.
