The Wiscasset boys basketball team erased an eleven point halftime deficit but lost on a foul shot with four seconds remaining in a 65-64 loss to the Bobcats on Monday, Jan. 6 in Richmond. Landin Shirey nailed a 3-pointer for the Wolverines with 30 seconds remaining to tie the match 64-64. Zaden Steele was fouled and made one of two free throws for the Bobcats with 4.6 seconds left on the clock. Shirey led the Wolverines with 23 points in the match, including a trio of 3-pointers.
Medomak Boys Blow Away Windjammers Medomak Valley 62 – Camden Hills 50
The undefeated Medomak Valley boys basketball team dominated Camden Hills 62-50 in front of a big, noisy crowd on Saturday, Jan. 4 in Rockport. The game was not as close as the final score might indicate, as the Panthers opened up a twenty-one point lead midway through the third quarter and then leaned on their bench depth to coast to an easy win. With the victory over the Class A Windjammers, the Panthers improved to 8-0 and maintained second place in the Heal Points standings for Class B South behind top-ranked York (9-0).
Panthers Boys Top Spruce Mountain in Battle of Unbeatens Medomak Valley 55 - Spruce Mountain 43
The Medomak Valley boys basketball team beat Spruce Mountain 55-43 in a battle between undefeated Class B South teams on Thursday, Jan. 2 in Waldoboro. Kristian Schumann notched 18 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead all scorers in the game. Gabe Lash scored 17 points, and led the Panthers with seven rebounds. The Panthers improved their regular season record to 7-0 with the win and are now in second place behind York (8-0) in the Heal Points standings in Class B South.
Medomak Girls Lose Steam in Second Half in Loss to Mt. Ararat Mt. Ararat 51 – Medomak Valley 42
Mt Ararat wore out the Medomak Valley girls basketball team during a 51-42 win over the Panthers on Monday, Dec. 30 in Topsham. Medomak’s Kytana Williamson scored 17 of her game-high 20 points in the first half as the Panthers stuck close to the Eagles, who led 26-25 heading into the halftime break. Mt. Ararat went on a 12-1 run to start the third quarter to put the game out of reach, and then coasted to the finish.
King Has Career-Best Game to Boost Wolverines Past Bucks Wiscasset 68 - Buckfield 61
The Wiscasset boys basketball team earned a 68-61 victory over Buckfield on Monday, Dec. 30 in Wiscasset. Sophomore Julien King scored a career-high 19 points to boost the Wolverines to the victory. “That was the best game that King has played over the past two years,” said Wolverines head coach Jamey Roy. “Our team keeps improving.”

Deb Taylor, 53, of Wiscasset, and Andrea Di Benedetto, 65, of Woolwich, completed their 20-year quest to run a marathon (26.2 miles) in all 50 states on Dec. 8 at the Honolulu Marathon.
Lincoln Girls Send Morse Packing Lincoln Academy 61 - Morse 34
Lincoln Academy girls basketball soared over visiting Morse on Thursday, Dec. 19, 61-34. Morse scored the opening point of the game at the foul line, but that would be their only lead. The Lady Eagles led 12-4, 31-14 and 45-26 at the quarter breaks. LA was led by Mariam DeLisle with a double double, scoring 20 points (12 steals).

Fouls Plague Panthers Girls in Win Over Eagles Medomak Valley 46 - Lincoln Academy 36
The Lincoln Academy girls got off to a fast start against Medomak Valley but could not hold on as the Panthers surged to a 46-36 win on Tuesday, Dec. 17 in Waldoboro. After rallying to take the lead in the second half, the Panthers were able to secure the victory despite foul trouble that led to 26 foul shots by the Eagles in the second half.
Kytana Williamson led the Panthers with 19 points and Claudia Feeley scored nine. Mariam DeLisle led the Eagles with 13 points, 11 rebounds, nine steals, three assists and one block. Medomak Valley improved to 2-1 on the season, while Lincoln Academy suffered their first loss of the season and slipped to 3-1.
Medomak Boys Rob Eagles Nest Medomak Valley 57- Lincoln Academy 31
The Medomak Valley boys basketball team robbed the Eagles nest for a 57-31 win on Tuesday, December 17. The Panthers jumped out to a 10-0 lead. The Eagles clawed their way back, taking a one point lead with 4:30 to play in the third period. The Panthers scored the final 14 points of the quarter to take a 42-29 lead, then held Lincoln to a single basket in the fourth to seal the win.
Lincoln Academy Girls Crush Cape Elizabeth Lincoln 59 - Cape Elizabeth 29
The Lincoln Academy girls basketball team beat Cape Elizabeth 59-29 on Friday, Dec. 13 in Newcastle. The Eagles were running on all cylinders in first quarter action, jumping out to a 17-0 lead. They led 19-2 at the end of one quarter, then played sloppy ball in the second, allowing Cape to pull within seven. The Eagles scored the final two baskets of the half to take a 23-12 lead at the break. Lincoln outscored Cape 18-8 in the third quarter, and 18-9 in the fourth to cruise to the win.
