There are several places to go mountain biking in Lincoln County. The best two choices are the Schmid Preserve in Edgecomb and Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson. In addition, Oxbow Brewing Co. in Newcastle offers a 1.5-mile blue-blazed mountain bike trail on hilly terrain.

Wiscasset Community Center Closing at Noon on March 16
The Wiscasset Community Center will be closing at noon on Monday, March 16 due to the coronavirus threat. Because they are a town run facility, the decision was made by town manager John O’Connell early on March 16.

The CLC YMCA announced on their website on Monday, March 16 that they will closing down. They currently plan to re-open on Sunday, March 29.
Spring Pre-Season Postponed Jr. high wrestling season cancelled, state gymnastics canceled, travel team tournaments canceled
The spring sports preseason has been postponed by the Maine Prinicpals’ Association until April 27, 2020. The first day of practice is currently scheduled for April 27. The Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference is meeting the first of next week to discuss the spring season.
I.J. Pinkham Hanging Up His Varsity Hat, But Not Stepping Away From The Game
Legendary Boothbay Region boys basketball coach I.J. Pinkham is hanging up his varsity coaching hat after 49 years. “I am not applying for the coaching job next year. I am done with varsity,” Pinkham said. While retiring as varsity coach, Pinkham is not stepping away from the game he loves. “I might volunteer,” he said.
Medomak Sophomore Goes From ‘Rags to Riches’ on Basketball Court
Dec. 21, 2017 is a day that stands out in Medomak Valley sophomore point guard Patrick McKenney’s memory. It was a day when the seemingly healthy 13-year-old Great Salt Bay Community School eighth grader was brought face to the face with the reality that he might never be able to play basketball, the game he loves, again.

Lincoln Academy’s coed Unified basketball team hosted Medomak Valley for LA’s second home game of the season on Monday, Feb. 24. The atmosphere was light and the crowd enthusiastic to celebrate the Eagle athletes in their first season. Medomak Valley is in its second year with the Unified program and Maine in its sixth.
Panther Wrestler Benner Takes First in the New England Qualifier
Medomak Valley’s 195 pound senior wrestler Erik Benner placed first at the New England Qualifier held on Feb. 28 at Noble High School. Panther teammates Tyler Cox (170) and Jake Gess (220) placed fourth.
