State Farm Sues Wiscasset Over Ladder Truck Incident
A June 2015 accident that took the Wiscasset Fire Department’s ladder truck, Ladder 1, out of service for more than a year is now the subject of a lawsuit. The State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. is suing the town of Wiscasset for the cost of the insurance payment made when the wheel of the ladder truck separated from the vehicle and rolled across the roof of a car parked at the Little Village Bistro.

Wiscasset Negotiating Sale of Primary School
Wiscasset is currently negotiating the sale of the former Wiscasset Primary School, Town Manager Marian Anderson said at the Wiscasset Board of Selectmen’s Tuesday, Oct. 4 meeting. The debate about Wiscasset firefighters washing their personal vehicles at the fire station will be decided by voters in November. The Wiscasset Board of Selectmen voted 4-1 Tuesday, Sept. 20 to call a townwide vote for Nov. 8 to let residents decide a question that has divided the fire department, the board of selectmen, and the town administration.
Kennebec County Expands Contract with Two Bridges
Kennebec County has expanded its contract with Two Bridges Regional Jail, and will pay an increased fee to send 10 additional inmates to the jail. The Lincoln and Sagadahoc Multicounty Jail Authority approved an amended contract with Kennebec County at its Wednesday, Sept. 14 meeting.
Lien Process Begins for Mason Station Plant
Wiscasset officials will examine pursuing foreclosure on the six Mason Station properties still on Wiscasset’s tax rolls following the Wiscasset Board of Selectmen’s Tuesday, Sept. 20 meeting. Selectmen voted 4-1 to begin the lien process on the Mason Station properties, which include the Mason Station plant, after meeting with attorney Ben Smith, of Skelton, Taintor & Abbott.
