While much of the country now calls the game bingo, it’s still called by its original name of beano here in Round Pond, and on Thursday, June 27, the Round Pond Schoolhouse Association will present its first beano night of the season.

Midcoast Conservancy will hold the 12th annual Live Edge music festival at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Joan Francke Remick Post, the daughter of Joseph Gould Remick and Eleanor Huntington Francke Remick, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024. She was born on March 29, 1931. Raised in Cedarhurst, Long Island and New York City, Joan and her husband, James McNee, chose Tryon, N.C. as their final home 41 years ago. They also had a summer cottage in Damariscotta.

William Henry Zuber II, of Friendship, began his final expedition on June 19, 2024 at the age of 88, after a short illness. Born in Manalapan, N.J., the son of Ethelmae (Kroll) and William Henry Zuber on March 10, 1936, Bill grew up on a farm in New Jersey, attended Manasquan High School, Admiral Farragut Academy, and was a graduate of Rowan (Glassboro) University.

Sherman Thurlow Gifford, 87, formerly of Nobleboro, passed away on the morning of June 16, 2024 at Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta. Born in Bristol on March 20, 1937, he was the son of the late Thurlow Gifford and Gladys (Poland) Gifford.
