The Medomak Valley boys basketball team beat Spruce Mountain 55-43 in a battle between undefeated Class B South teams on Thursday, Jan. 2 in Waldoboro. Kristian Schumann notched 18 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead all scorers in the game. Gabe Lash scored 17 points, and led the Panthers with seven rebounds. The Panthers improved their regular season record to 7-0 with the win and are now in second place behind York (8-0) in the Heal Points standings in Class B South.
Medomak Girls Lose Steam in Second Half in Loss to Mt. Ararat Mt. Ararat 51 – Medomak Valley 42
Mt Ararat wore out the Medomak Valley girls basketball team during a 51-42 win over the Panthers on Monday, Dec. 30 in Topsham. Medomak’s Kytana Williamson scored 17 of her game-high 20 points in the first half as the Panthers stuck close to the Eagles, who led 26-25 heading into the halftime break. Mt. Ararat went on a 12-1 run to start the third quarter to put the game out of reach, and then coasted to the finish.
King Has Career-Best Game to Boost Wolverines Past Bucks Wiscasset 68 - Buckfield 61
The Wiscasset boys basketball team earned a 68-61 victory over Buckfield on Monday, Dec. 30 in Wiscasset. Sophomore Julien King scored a career-high 19 points to boost the Wolverines to the victory. “That was the best game that King has played over the past two years,” said Wolverines head coach Jamey Roy. “Our team keeps improving.”

Fouls Plague Panthers Girls in Win Over Eagles Medomak Valley 46 - Lincoln Academy 36
The Lincoln Academy girls got off to a fast start against Medomak Valley but could not hold on as the Panthers surged to a 46-36 win on Tuesday, Dec. 17 in Waldoboro. After rallying to take the lead in the second half, the Panthers were able to secure the victory despite foul trouble that led to 26 foul shots by the Eagles in the second half.
Kytana Williamson led the Panthers with 19 points and Claudia Feeley scored nine. Mariam DeLisle led the Eagles with 13 points, 11 rebounds, nine steals, three assists and one block. Medomak Valley improved to 2-1 on the season, while Lincoln Academy suffered their first loss of the season and slipped to 3-1.
Panthers Sink Mariners in Boys Basketball Rivalry Medomak Valley 66 - Oceanside 44
The Medomak Valley boys basketball team thrashed Oceanside 66-44 on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Waldoboro. Continuous dedication to team defense was the key to the victory, as the Panthers held Oceanside’s historically potent offense to just 13 points in the first half.
Coach DePatsy’s nephew, Rocco DePatsy, seemed to enjoy his first time playing in the rivalry against Oceanside, racking up 18 points to join teammate Kristian Schumann as the leading scorers in the game. The Panthers improved to 2-0 on the season, while Oceanside dropped to 1-1.

Eagles Girls Basketball Ends Preseason With Loss to Freeport Freeport 47 - Lincoln Academy 39
The Lincoln Academy girls basketball team fell behind early to Freeport and could never quite catch up as they lost 47-39 to the Falcons on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in Newcastle. Freeport held their largest lead of the game at halftime, 31-21, before the Eagles rallied to close the gap to as little as three points on multiple occasions in the fourth quarter. Mariam DeLisle and Yzze Bhe each scored 13 points to lead the Eagles offense. The Eagles open the regular season on Friday, Dec. 6 at MCI in Pittsfield.

Panthers Outlast Ellsworth in Boys Basketball Preseason Opener Medomak Valley 64 - Ellsworth 49
The Medomak Valley boys basketball team jumped out to a large early lead and then held off Ellsworth the rest of the way to win 64-49 in their preseason opener on Tuesday, Nov. 26 in Waldoboro.
Mason Nguyen led the Panthers with 21 points in the game, including eight in the first quarter when Medomak Valley claimed a commanding 15-7 lead. Gabe Lash scored 17 points and Kristian Schumann tallied twelve.
Lincoln Academy Boys Smother Mt. Ararat in Preseason Hoops Win Lincoln Academy 52 - Mt. Ararat 44
Any questions about whether Lincoln Academy would bounce back this season after several seniors graduated – including 1,000 point scorer Gabe Hagar – were answered in a 52-44 win over Mt. Ararat that opened the preseason schedule on Monday, Nov. 25 in Topsham. The Eagles featured a quick, feisty defense that smothered and exhausted Mt. Ararat, especially in the second half while a variety of Lincoln Academy athletes aggressively attacked the basket to draw fouls. The Eagles outscored Mt. Ararat 18-7 in the fourth quarter to rally for the win.
Aidyn Herring and Chase Coffin led the Eagles with nine points apiece. Also scoring for Lincoln Academy were Terry Welle with eight points, Drew Hunt seven, Otto Schoenthal six, A.J. Giberson five, E.J. Hunt and Chase Ober three each, and Tyson Ball with two.

Panthers Football Season Ends in Defeat After Tough Battle Against Hawks Hermon 24 – Medomak Valley 14
The Medomak Valley football team succumbed to the strong defense and robust running game of the Hermon Hawks in a 24-14 loss in the Class C North regional championship on Saturday, Nov. 16 in Hampden. Gabe Lash had a stellar game for the Panthers after he switched to the quarterback position in the second half and sparked a comeback rally that ended up just a little bit short.
Panthers Play Error-Free Football in Class C North Playoff Rout Medomak Valley 36 - Nokomis 6
The Medomak Valley football team dominated Nokomis during a 36-6 rout in a Class C North semifinal match on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Waldoboro. The number two seed Panthers played better offense, defense and special teams than the three seed Warriors and also benefitted from Nokomis turnovers while earning a trip to the regional championship game for the third year in a row. Medomak Valley’s offensive line led the way against Nokomis by consistently clearing space for the Panthers running backs including Jaydiin Ruiz who ran for 200 yards and four touchdowns.
Medomak Valley will seek to avenge a regular season loss to the Hermon Hawks when they square off for the Class C North title on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2:30 P.M. at Hampden Academy in Hampden. Number one seed Hermon defeated the Panthers 14-8 during the opening week of the season.
