Winter Clothing Donations Sought Oct. 25-31
Donations of clean gently used or new winter clothing, footwear, and gear for children and adults will be collected from Saturday, Oct. 25 through Friday, Oct. 31 in a bin on the porch of Live from Love Center, at 145 Waldoboro Road in Bremen.

LA Pumpkin Run
Lincoln Academy cross country team will be hosting their annual LA Pumpkin Run on Thurs., Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. The date was changed because of incoming weather. The course is 1.2 miles long and the race is open to all grammar school aged children.

The Frances Perkins Center announced the completion of the inaugural summer visitor season at the Frances Perkins National Monument, where more than 4,000 people visited from across Maine and beyond from mid-June through late September. The site was designated a national monument in December 2024.
Matching Grant Helps Historical Society Repair Foundation of 200-Year-Old Mill
The Pemaquid Mill owes its existence to the Pemaquid River, which powered the machinery to grind grain, card wool, and saw lumber. But decade after decade of flowing river water had created a leak in the 200-year-old mill’s foundation wall. The melting snow in spring and frost and thaw cycles in winter further undermined the foundation that supports the mill.

Newcastle Historical Society Gets A New Sign
Anyone who frequently travels past the Taniscot and Newcastle town office on Main Street might recently have noticed a brightening of its facade in the replacement of the Newcastle Historical Society’s old and sadly degrading sign that hosted messages and announcements of various types.
