On Dec. 25, 2023, Sean Michael Hunter passed away unexpectedly. Sean was born on March 26, 1982, in Pontiac, Mich. to Mike Hunter and Sue Piasick-Hunter-Clark. Sean grew up in Holly, Mich., and spent his summers in Caseville, Mich., where the family owned a cottage. On Jan. 1, 2000, Sean moved to Nobleboro where he joined his mother and brother and stepfather. In 2001 he and his family moved to Bristol.

Larry Joe Sturges, 74, of Gorham, formerly of Portland and Whitefield, passed away after a period of declining health on Jan. 13, 2024 at Maine Medical Center. Larry was born March 24, 1949 in Findlay, Ohio, the son of Joseph Edward “Eddie” Sturges and Julia Eleanor (LaRue) Sturges.

Marilyn E. Goode, 79, of Boothbay, passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at the Horizon’s Rehabilitation, in Brunswick. Marilyn was born on March 2, 1944, in Boothbay, to parents Rupert and Ursula (Barter) Downing.

Lloyd A. Delano, 82, passed away on Jan. 9, 2024, with his family by his side. Lloyd was born on May 15, 1941, to Russell R. Delano and Madelyn F. Mathews Delano.

Joan E. Richards, 77, of Damariscotta, passed away peacefully on the morning of Jan. 14, 2024 at Coves Edge. Born on Sept. 8, 1946 in Passaic, N.J., she was the daughter of Elizabeth and William Edwards.

Mitchell E. Cooper, of Whitefield, passed away on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at Gray Birch assisted living facility, in Augusta.

George Victor Van Deventer died Nov. 18, 2023, at his daughter Susan’s Connecticut home. Born Sept. 8, 1935, in Newark, N.J., he was the son of George W. and Bertha E. (Hulsman) Van Deventer. He married Arlene H. Carhart on Feb. 24, 1965, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Jersey City, N.J.

Janice Henderson Hamilton Hanly passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2024 with her family at her side. Born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Aug. 26, 1929, to Clarence F. (Cack) and Barbara Goldy Hamilton, the family relocated to her father’s hometown of South Portland when she was 6 weeks of age. Janice’s husband, Paul H. Hanly Jr., predeceased her in 2020.

Diana Susan Baston, known to her loved ones as “Di,” passed away on Dec. 27, 2023 in Augusta, at the age of 77. She was born on Feb. 7, 1946 in Saffron Walden, Essex County, England. Di was a beloved wife, mother, sister, stepmother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

On Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024 Marty Welt, beloved husband, father, and “Papa,” died surrounded by loved ones. He was 80 years old. Marty was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Dec. 19, 1943 to Frank and Shirley Welt and was the only son and middle of their three children. The Welts left Brooklyn for Elmont, N.Y. where Marty grew up until he left to attend the University of Vermont. At UVM, Marty met the love of his life, Betty, and they were married in May 1966.

Walter Thomas Levesque passed away on Dec. 31, with his son, Kurtis by his side. Walter was born in Peterborough, N.H. to Wilfred (Zeke) Levesque and Laura Sylvester, on Oct. 12, 1945. He grew up in Bennington, N.H., and after high school he joined the U.S. Army. This is where he learned about communications, and after being discharged he went to work for ConTel in Concord, N.H.
