Historical Society’s Digitization Project Speeds Ahead
In 2022, the Boothbay Region Historical Society in embarked on an ambitious project to produce digital images of its collection artifacts, photographs, and documents with the twin goals of preserving them against loss or deterioration and making them more accessible to researchers and visitors to the society’s museum at 72 Oak St. in Boothbay Harbor.

Skidompha recognizes the importance of our local history and our innate curiosity regarding our heritage. In response, I am happy to report we have renewed our ancestry.com license, and added the Fold3 database to our available historical and genealogical resources. Ancestry is fairly ubiquitous, but if you aren’t familiar with Fold3, it is the prime source for military/veteran records.

Cider Pressing at Pownalborough Court House Sept. 29
Fall is here, which means it’s time for the annual cider pressing demonstration at Lincoln County Historical Association’s Pownalborough Court House, at 23 Courthouse Drive in Dresden. Families are invited to the court house grounds from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29 to make cider and taste the results from different types of apples.

Painters Featured at Pemaquid Art Gallery
The paintings of Barbara Applegate and Sally Loughridge, two member artists at the Pemaquid Art Gallery, have strong impact on the viewer, although in very different styles. The two painters are both prolific and accomplished, creating scenes of the Maine coast where color and composition are vital.
