Larry Newbert, born on Feb. 2, 1949, to Merton Newbert and Louise Teague Newbert, peacefully passed away at the age of 75. Larry was honored to be a member of the Camden small business community, having owned and operated Camden Drug Co. for nearly two decades.

William “Bill” A. Weiblen, 85, died peacefully on Feb. 27, 2024 at home in Avon, Conn. surrounded by family. He was born on June 2, 1938 in Whitefield, to Erwin and Ellen Weiblen. He was a loving husband to Eileen, father to Peter and Elizabeth, grandfather to Jaelle, Catriana, Alec, and Natalie, and Uber to his cat, Princess.

Lawrence Haley Reed, 78, of Walpole, passed away on the morning of March 14, 2024, after a very brief illness. Larry was born on Sept. 24, 1945 in Damariscotta, to Cecil H. Reed and Lillian Frances Haley.
LA Robotics Team Wins States, Qualifies for World Championship
On Saturday, March 9, Lincoln Academy Robotics Team 8030A won the Maine State Robotics Championship, becoming the first Lincoln Academy team in history to do so.

The Round Pond Chronicles of Adelaide Butman
While rummaging in an old box of papers, I rediscovered a half-finished manuscript that the late Carol Brightman and I had intended – but failed – to publish some four decades past. It contained excerpts from the diary of Adelaide Butman, who had spent her early years in Round Pond between 1888-1902. Adelaide’s memoir, in addition to its literary merits, intimately captures with the eye of a close and affectionate observer the vitality of village life and the surprising diversity of its inhabitants.

It’s Molly, one of your adult services librarians! Today, I have the bittersweet honor of writing my very first and last newsletter message to you. Over the past two and a half (incredible!) years working here at Skidompha Library, I realized that I need to be closer to my family; I will be leaving Skidompha to move to Chicago on March 22.
