Paul Martin Cheney, 67, of Newcastle, passed away unexpectedly July 11, 2023 in Freeport, Ill. after a struggle with depression.

Marlene, affectionately known as “Boo,” passed away peacefully on Monday, July 10 after a short stay at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay. Born Sept. 23, 1942 to Cyrus and Grace Delano, of Friendship, Marlene attended Friendship Village School and then Waldoboro High School. She married Lee Powell on Oct. 10, 1959. Lee enlisted in the Navy and they lived in New Jersey and Florida. Eventually they returned to Friendship to raise their family.

Elizabeth Forss Philbrook passed away into the presence of her savior surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at her home at 800 Eastern Road in Warren.

Barry Reed Hathorne, 76, died peacefully at his cousin’s home in Edgecomb on June 30, 2023 surrounded by family, friends, and love. He was born on Aug. 25, 1946 in Boothbay Harbor. He was the only child of Hartley “Sammie” Hathorne Jr., and Dorothy “Dot” Dodge Reed Hathorne.

Richard W. Miller, 87, of Wiscasset, died peacefully on July 4, 2023, in Damariscotta. Despite living a long and mostly healthy life, Richard fought courageously against several significant health challenges that plagued him in his final years.

Joseph C. Johnson, 20, passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 7 at Maine Medical Center with his mother by his side.

Janice O’Brien Sprague, 87, of Nobleboro, passed away at The Lincoln Home on the morning of July 5 with her loving family by her side.

Reita A. Sewall, 97, of Damariscotta, passed away on the morning of July 7, 2023 at Hodgdon Green, where she had been residing for the past several years. Born in South Bristol, on March 3, 1926, she was the daughter of Sumner and Helen (Nason) McFarland.

Dwayne M. Severson, 58, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on July 6, 2023. Dwayne was born on March 19, 1965, in Marlborough, Mass. to Albert M. and Roselin (Bramhall) Severson.
