Hemlock Inspection Essential for Survival
The hemlock woolly adelgid, a small, invasive aphid-like species, was introduced to the eastern United States in 1927. Native Northeastern U.S. hemlocks, like the eastern hemlock, show no resistance to the species and have been gravely impacted. As of 2020 the Maine Forest Service has established quarantines in nine counties that stretch from York to Hancock County. All of Lincoln County is under quarantine, which means that hemlocks may not be transported from the area.
Youth Acting Classes at The Waldo Submitted article
Imagination comes to life at The Waldo. Enrollment is now open for a range of youth acting classes. All classes are held after-school and will run for 12 weeks beginning the last week of February. The classes are designed for grade levels 1-3, 4-6, and 7-12; with a class designed just for kindergartners. No previous experience is needed to join.

TIME HAS COME
We always knew this day would come.
We knew there would come a day when Chester Rice would not be in public office anymore. Sad as it is, we’re happy to see him turn in his keys and walk out under his own power, at a time and place of his own choosing. We hope he enjoys his retirement, although we expect he’ll remain as busy as ever.

Jan. 15: The sweet CNA got me up past 6:30 a.m. She helped me dress and get into my wheelchair. Then she took me to the scales to weigh me. The sweet helpful nurse came in with my meds and a nebulizer treatment. She was told by the sweet overnight nurse that she didn’t get a chance to give them to me.
