The memorial service for Elizabeth Bickford, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 18, has been postponed because of the current limit on gatherings. It will now be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, June 6 at the Damariscotta Baptist Church.

The trustees of the Waldoborough Historical Society are pleased to announce they have been designated to receive funding from the Maine 200 Bicentennial Commission for a sign to commemorate the 1820 State Seal Visual gift of Bertha Smouse.

Midcoast Humane Appoints First Medical Director

Midcoast Humane, celebrating its 70th year as a nonprofit providing animal welfare services to 40 municipalities in the state of Maine, on Friday, March 13 announced the appointment of Dr. Alison Pare, who is a doctor of veterinary medicine, as its first medical director since commencing operations in 1950.

County Requests Donations of Personal Protective Equipment

The Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency’s emergency operations center, on Wednesday, March 25, issued a request for new, unused personal protective equipment to assist front-line emergency medical services, fire department, and law enforcement personnel; health care providers; and health care facilities responding to COVID-19.

The current one, created by a rogue virus and constant alarming news updates, is different. There are no swirling white flakes. The roads and sidewalks are not in need of shoveling. It took a little longer to arrive in Maine, but suddenly our world has become conducive to staying close to the hearth.

Tina’s Daylilies is American Daylily Society Display Garden

Tina’s Daylilies, on East Pond Road in Jefferson, is now a display garden for the American Daylily Society. This garden is only the third American Daylily Society display garden in the state of Maine and the only historic garden listed in the state of Maine, according to the American Daylily Society website.

County Commissioners Take Steps to Protect Employees, Constituents

In response to the spread of COVID-19 and confirmed cases within Lincoln County, the county commissioners have taken steps to protect employees and constituents. Effective Tuesday, March 17, the county courthouse offices will remain operational, but in-person access will be restricted. These restrictions will be in place until further notice.
